March 2024: Phd-student Lessa Schippers published a new article on the topic of strengths in ADHD in Comprevensive Psychiatry. In this study we investigated the associations between ADHD traits and 10 self-reported positive aspects (see Schippers et al.,2022) in almost five hundred adults of the general UK population. We found positive correlations between ADHD traits and hyperfocus, sensory processing sensitivity, and cognitive flexibility. We also found negative correlations between ADHD traits and perseverance, up for anything, enthousiasm and sociability. Our results can help to better understand self-reported positive aspects of ADHD, which may lead to reduce stigma, to increase acceptance, and to help embrace diversity.
